Do you need support this winter?

More than 30,000 Volunteer Responders are standing by to boost capacity in health and care this winter and support some of the country’s most vulnerable people. From friendly phone calls to picking up and delivering prescriptions and shopping, our volunteers are ready to support you.

Living Well Team

The Living Well Team recognises that a person’s health and wellbeing can be determined by a range of social, economic and environmental factors. Social Prescribing looks to address a person’s needs in a holistic way, allowing the patient greater control of their health. Referrals to the team can be made by clinicians, family members, or patients themselves by contacting the practice and asking to speak directly with the team.

Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

On Your Mind

On Your Mind is the Wiltshire Early Mental Health Service, run by Barnardo’s. Offering practical tips and advice about supporting children and young people’s mental health focusing on a range of different subjects

Check in and Chat

The length of the Check in and Chat service has increased from 6 to 18 weeks. Volunteers make a friendly phone call and a listening ear to those who may be experiencing loneliness or are less able to leave their homes to socialise.

The person who makes the request will receive a phone call each week from a different volunteer for 18 weeks.

The volunteer support available to you includes:

  • Friendly phone calls for anyone needing a chat and a listening ear
  • Essential shopping, prescription and if eligible, lateral flow tests delivery
  • Delivery of small items of equipment and medication to people at home and between sites
  • Steward Volunteers to support COVID-19 vaccination sites.

If you are struggling with loneliness or just need someone to lend an ear, the receptionists at your GP surgery can refer you or you can call 08081963646 to request these services directly.
